LYDIA FELLOWSHIP NIGERIA - PRAYER NEWSLETTER: OCTOBER 2011
Beloved Lydia sisters, Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. October 1, 2011 Nigeria attains 51 years of independence. On the faces of many Nigerian, you read hopelessness, uncertainty, despair, anxiety and fear. It is in times like these that we find comfort, joy, encouragement and direction from the letter of the Apostle Paul to the Philippians. The Church at Philippi started in Lydia’s home during Paul’s 2nd missionary journey. (Acts. 16 : 11 – 14). Years later, in his arrest and awaiting trial, (Acts 28 : 16 & 30) Paul writes to encourage these believers who were going through life’s difficulties, including persecution. The challenges the church in Nigeria and the Nation are going through are not peculiar to Nigeria, and so we must remain focused in proclaiming and obeying Christ. (Philippians 1 : 27 – 30). It does not matter what you are going through, remain strong in the Lord. He is with you and will see you through. PRAYER FOCUS: 1. Thank God for the entity called Nigeria. a. God has kept Nigeria as a nation in spite of the devil’s attempt to break her apart. b. God’s purposes for Nigeria shall stand. (Isaiah 14 : 24 – 27) 2. Pray for the unity of Nigeria. a. Pray that God will give us victory over terrorism, ethnic mistrust and violence, kidnapping, other violent crimes and corruption. 3.
