On behalf of Lydia Fellowship International, it is my joy and pleasure to welcome you to our website. We are thrilled to be able to present to you the Vision of Lydia, a vision given by God over forty years ago to one woman, Shelagh McAlpine, for the women of the world who love and worship the Lord and whose hearts He has opened to hear His Word.
While on her knees In prayer, the Lord spoke to Shelagh through the scriptures in Acts 16:13-15, and that day was birthed a prayer ministry for women which today covers the globe.
At that time, Shelagh was living in New Zealand. Some time later she and her husband, Campbell, and their family moved to England. There the vision of Lydia took root and blossomed into what became known as Lydia Fellowship International and it spread quickly throughout England and the rest of the UK.
Seven years later, God called Shelagh and Campbell to the United States. There the doors opened again for the vision of Lydia to be shared, and again it spread rapidly, this time, throughout the whole of America, and from there, through what is known as Operation World, to the nations of the world.
Lydia Fellowship International calls for women to come together in small groups to worship and wait on the Lord, to listen to His heart through meditation in His Word, and to respond in prayer and intercession for the family, the church, the communities and the nations of the world.
In February 2005, Shelagh went home to be with the Lord, and although there can be no replacement for Shelagh, the founder of Lydia, in 2007 it was decided to appoint an International Coordinator who works with an International Prayer and Planning team.
We are here today, called by God, for the women of the world, with the same vision God gave Shelagh, a vision which has been tried and tested and is as relevant for today’s generation of women as it was when God first gave it to Shelagh. If you are hearing the call of God at this critical time in our history, to fast and pray for your family, your church, your community, your nation, and the nations of the world, we welcome you and invite you to join us.
